Exercise For Weight Loss: Five Facts You Need To Know

Exercise For Weight Loss: Five Facts You Need To Know

Are you exercising to lose weight?  Here are five facts you need to know to shed the most pounds through exercise!

Intensity Matters

If you want faster results in a shorter period of time without dedicating more time to exercise, kick up the intensity.  Higher intensity exercise burns more calories than moderate exercise and moderate exercise burns more calories than light exercise.

Forget The Fat Burning Zone

The fat burning zone is a deceptive myth.  Regardless of whether you are burning fat or carbohydrates, it is total calories burned that matters most for weight loss.  Again, increased intensity is better for weight loss.

Consistency Is Key

To really realize the results of exercise, you have to stick with it.  After a few weeks, you will definitely feel the difference, but you have to stay consistent to realize the benefits of exercise for weight loss.

It Is Supposed To Be Challenging

Yes, exercise is challenging and uncomfortable.  If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.  If you truly challenge yourself, you will see results.  Challenge leads to change!  You will also feel great after you complete a challenging workout and get a better night’s sleep!

Hydrate!

Don’t underestimate the importance of drinking enough water.  Dehydration can make a workout miserable and can even be dangerous, especially if you are exercising in the heat.  Remember to drink extra water prior to, during, and after working out.

***Please check with your physician before starting any new exercise program.***
