What to expect at your first visit...

We take appointments, but also see patients on a walk-in basis. Most of our medical staff speak both English and Spanish.

Please arrive early for your first visit. You will be asked to complete a nutrition assessment questionnaire and provide some information about your medical history.

In a private consultation room, one of Dr. Olivera's specially trained medical staff will perform a physical assessment that includes measurements of height, weight, waist circumference, body mass index, heart rate and blood pressure. Additionally, we will also listen to your heart and lungs.

Our medical staff members will explain in detail our well-established and successful weight-loss program, answer any questions you may have, and then individualize the program to create the specific results you are seeking.

You will be offered an injection of vitamin B12, which is included in the cost of the visit. This important vitamin supplement helps to increase energy and your overall nutritional status. You will also be offered a one-month supply of appetite suppressant medication such as Phentermine. This will be dispensed in the office for your convenience.

It is also important to note that laboratory testing is required for all patients within the first three months of their visit. Cholesterol, blood sugar, blood count, kidney function, liver function and thyroid level will all be assessed. You will have the option of having these drawn by your primary care physician or here at the laboratory.

Generally, your first visit should take 45 - 60 minutes.

What to expect at your return visits...

After your initial visit, we recommend you return each month to allow our medical staff to review your progress through our program. On these return visits, we may modify or further tailor our program to fit your individual needs. We will continue to offer moral support for you to meet your weight loss goals!

Measurements of your weight, waist circumference, body mass index, heart rate and blood pressure will be taken at each return visit. The vitamin B12 injection will again be offered and included in the cost of the visit. Another 30-day supply of appetite suppressant medication such as Phentermine may also be dispensed after an assessment of your health status and progress through our program.

Generally, return visits last about 10 - 20 minutes.
