Six Ways to Exercise When You Don’t Have Time

Six Ways to Exercise When You Don’t Have Time

If you struggle to fit exercise into your routine, try one of these five, simple ways to exercise more starting today!

1 – Use 10-15 minutes of your break time at work to go for a brisk walk, every day.  Looking for something a little more intense?  Try walking or jogging the stairs, up and down, for 10-15 minutes.  This is easy, costs nothing, but still increases your activity by an hour or more per week!  Just 10-15 minutes of exercise daily can yield positive health benefits!

2 – If you watch TV in the evenings, incorporate exercise, while enjoying your favorite shows.  Make yourself a list of exercises you can do in your living room that won’t interfere with enjoying your program.  Squats, wall-sits, lunges, sit-ups, planking, lifting free-weights or simply walking in place are just a few of the things you can do!

3 – Start your day with 10-15 minutes of exercise every morning.  Sure, getting up an hour early to make it to the gym is a challenge, but just 10-15 minutes is a great start!  Find exercises you can do at home, or go for a walk every morning and start your day off the right way!

4 – Challenge yourself to exercise for ten minutes at a time, 2-3 times per day.  Research shows that exercise in a little as ten minute increments is beneficial to your health!  If you go for a walk, lift free-weights or do some exercises right in your office, you can experience some of the benefits of exercise without having to make the time commitment of going to the gym.

5 – Start including one healthy, planned activity per week that is physically challenging.  Go for a hike, have fun like a kid for an hour at a trampoline park, or get a one day pass at a gym with a rock climbing wall and get climbing!  Do something different each week to keep it new and fun.  Make it more fun by getting a friend to join you in this adventure!

6 – Join an adult sports league.  Leagues aren’t just for bowling and softball anymore.  Kickball leagues are available in most areas and are an absolute blast!  This will get you exercising once a week, but will be too busy having fun to count it as working out!
