Love dessert by trying to watch your waistline? Try this fast, easy and delicious recipe for a Greek berry dessert that you will not only love, but feel great about eating!
This recipe makes four servings.
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar (challenge yourself to add just 1 TBSP, less is more with this ingredient! You can also try honey instead)
2 TBSP fresh lemon juice
1 TBSP butter
2 cups plain non-fat Greek yogurt
4 TBSP of your favorite nuts (optional)
- Combine all ingredients (except the butter, yogurt and nuts) in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce to medium heat and simmer for about ten minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Add the butter.
- Spoon 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt into 4 bowls.
- Top each with 1/4 of the sauce.
- Top each with 1 TBSP nuts.
This dessert contains just 218 calories, 28 grams of carbohydrates and packs 14 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, a serving of dairy, a serving of fruit, calcium and vitamin D! Keep in mind, you can lower the carbohydrates by adding less sugar, but at 28 grams of carbohydrates this is an excellent choice compared with other desserts!
