It’s asparagus season and prices on asparagus are low!  Here’s a delicious, restaurant style dish that takes less than ten minutes of prep!


1 lbs fresh asparagus

2 TBSP balsamic reduction or apple cider vinegar reduction

1/4 cup shaved Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup water

Shallow dish for microwaving or pan for steaming



1- Wash asparagus, snap off or cut off woody ends

2 – You may leave asparagus whole or chop into bite sized pieces (as pictured)

3 – Place asparagus and water in shallow dish and microwave for 3-5 minutes, or until asparagus reaches desired tenderness OR steam asparagus on the stove top until it reaches desired tenderness

4 – Carefully drain the water off of the asparagus, as not to burn yourself

5 – Chill by placing in fridge for 20-30 minutes or by placing in freezer for 5+ minutes (optional)

6 – Drizzle with balsamic reduction (add more than the 2 TBSP, if desired)

7 – Top with shaved Parmesan

8 – Best served chilled, but can also be served warm

9 – Makes 4 servings
